Our need of consolation creation
To life, death, science does it all. Julie Beres was concerned and amused, and the search becomes a source document that operates a theater of dreams.
In theater Julie Beres of the text is a material among others. "I try to shape a theater sensory suggestive. I try to knit together disparate elements polysemic, I put in play sounds, images, bodies and situations. This is for me to prepare a composition in which the imagination and proposals performers can interact with the excitement offered by the creation of sound, the finds set design, the distortions that allow projections of video and light. "In Our need of consolation Julie Beres search ethical issues raised by some scientific advances as they affect the living. Bioengineering, cloning, interventions to slow the aging of cells, DNA manipulation, freezing the body after death ... All this draws the landscape of a post-human world where the fantasy of immortality becomes real thing. Beginning in "immersion documentary" in the heart of these networks (the sperm bank in Denmark, surrogacy in India, etc..) Julie Beres draws pictures, situations, fragments of text, optical illusions, subjecting us disorder of the true and false. A dream theater, both comical and nightmarish to wake up consciences.
